Problem: Create a clock that writes the time.

Solution: The Verbarius electronic clock - another stunning design by Art. Lebedev. From the product site:

Verbarius answers the question “What time is it?” writing a different reply every time it’s asked: it’s either forty-five minutes past four, or fifteen minutes to five, or four forty-five, or a quarter to five.

Verbarius is the first clock in the world that writes the time in a humane way. Five languages are available: English, German, Spanish, French and Russian. You can upload any other language—from Latin to Gaelic—through a PC.

Dimensions: width—200 mm, height—70 mm, depth—42 mm.

The time is set and reset in the most comfortable and obvious way possible. The “change hour” pictogram is easy to understand both for Russians (Час) and foreigners (Hour, Hora, Heure)

The language selection button

Verbarius is powered from a 110/220V mains supply. The device is fitted with a backup battery to provide operation during a power failure.
